Mikhail Gorbachev and the collapse of Communism

Mikhail was a reformer which helped get rid of communism. He was well supported by the people of Russia, because they also wanted change in Russia because they had corrupt government. "Glasnost" was reform in the Soviet Union was stood for secret USSR and now Public Russia. "Peristrokia" was also a reform in the Collapse of Communism it was the opening of the Russian Economy as they started trading with other nations. The times before the collapse in USSR the newspaper, the T.V. and everything the Russians heard was lie and some people form here can tell stories about the way it affected them. But After the Russians got rid of communism everything was the truth in Russia again but in order to do this they had to knock down everything down just like a old house.

Collapse of Communism

Communism ended in Eastern Europe because of the people that really supported the concept and also the opposite party Democracy. People tore down the Berlin Wall because they representing that there was no more Communism in Germany. Since the collapse of Communism the U.S. has become the influence of the world and the also it has become the superpower of the world.

Nelson Mandela and the Apartheid

Apartheid was a policy that segregated the Black and the other natives from the White that lived there. Nelson Mandela was hero for Africa because he changed the ways everyone, mostly the Natives were treated in Africa made boycotts and other riots just like Gandhi in India in order to get their countries independence. This took years and eventually Mandela was elected president and got Independence for Africa

African Independence

Some of the Leaders that lead Africa was Leopold Senghor he was politican that worte poetry that made everyone see why africa needed a independence. There was also are fight in Algeria were the poeple didn't want to give up their land without a fight. Many people people died in order to gain the African Independence. It helped get rid all of the Coloines in Africa.

The Cuban Missile Crisis

The Cuban Missile Crisis was almost the end of the world because the Soviet Union was planting Missiles in Cuba and They found out so the set up EX-COMM, which was were the Presdient's 12 most trusted advisors. The trusted advisors all decided not to attack Cuba cause it would just cause a Nuclear War in the world.

NATO and The Warsaw Pact

The Pact between these countries were only because there was a cold war going on. NATO was created by The U.S. were they made a agreement to certain countries if Russia would ever attack member of the NATO, then all members of NATO would go to war aganist Russia. But snice Russia and U.S. were in a contest aganist each other, Russia decided to make this Warsaw Pact with other Nations to agree to same thing U.S. were doing. So basically Russia just copied the NATO idea. This was a battle between U.S. and the U.S.S.R , each top Nation trying to accept the Idea of Communism and Captailism.

Film: The Right Stuff

The US and USSR were competing make new technology and breaking world records for example breaking the sound barrier and make new weapons make each other get scared. The used also used spy's to get each other's secrets and idea's. At first Russia was winning the war, by launching the first satellite into space. Some scenes from the movie were the part were Russia were making rockets to send to space and spy's were recording for the US.

Film Lesson "Schindler's List"

Schindler's List told a different story to the about the Holocaust it didn't show many scence how the Nazi's murdered the Jewish people. This movie really told me a different story because some of the movie I don't get at all. The movie was to me more understandable but not as powerful. The Krakow Ghetto was just begining of the horrible thing ahead for the Jews many people thought it was all going to over but everywhere the Nazi's took the Jews it just got worse. No some of the images were just had no representation of the movie it just had a few scene's people will remeber

Film Lesson "Night and Fog"

The first movie called Night and Fog was really realistic, I didn't
find the movie as powerful most people did because I know what to
expect from a holocaust. This movie compared to the movie Schindler's
List it was more devastating. In the Hollywood version of the Holocaust
it has more detail then the Hollywood version. The Hollywood version only shows short scene's of killing.

The Treaty of Versailles (Ended WW1)

The Treaty of Versailles really made Germany pay the most for the war, By Money, Land, Food, and Labor. Most people believed that the Treaty of Versailles was the caused Germany’s economies to fall deeply many people in Germany were depressed because of this Treaty. So after Adolf Hitler rose and took Germany and that started the Nazi Army, which eventually lead to the killing of Jews at The Holocaust. Many Historians believe that was the reason of WW2.

This shows the situation Germany was in during the signing of The Treaty of Versailles.

Mustaf Kemal (Ataturk) and the Modernization of Turkey

Mustaf Kemal bought the Ottoman Emprie to become Turkey. He wanted to make Turkey less reilgous. Kemalism was about fullfilling the peoples wishes. Mustaf wanted to have know classes that seperated people, he wanted everyone to be equal. He created the Rebulic of Turkey unlike most countries Turkey actually wanted to have the New Nation. Along with this newly developed nation came Nationlism he believed that Turkey's land belonged only to the Turkish people only and no one else. During this time new ideas and traditions were established. Mustaf also believed that change is always better.

Film Lesson: Gandhi

Gandhi set up protests in order to gain independence from th British. He did the salt march and he told India that they should make their own clothes and not to buy from the British. He used the concept of non-voilence he made the British how the were treating India. That made the British a hated Emprie from the countires. What really made the British hated was the Amritsar Massacre where the British attacked a unexpected crowd. India could have used voilence to get independence but that would have got many people killed.

Joseph Stalin and Totalitarianism

Totalitarianism is the concept in where a ruler controls every aspect of someones lives. For example the Chinese ruler attempted to control China. Joseph Stalin controlled most Russia with this concept of Totalitarianism and used use for a longer time then anyone in the Russian Government. The Five Year Plan was a plan to change into a Industrial country in Five years. The Great Purge was when Joseph Stalin started to be paranoid and started to persecute important members of the party. Joseph Stalin was just a dictator almost like Adolf Hitler but Joseph Stalin had a reason to change Russia.

Film Lesson: Doctor Zhivago

In this movie Doctor Zhivago pictured the Russian Revolution to change the ways of Russia Government and make everything fair for Russia. They wanted to change the way they lived they didn't want anymore Czars and the wanted to change their Economy and live with food and a place to live. The Revolution happened because of when Russia's Czar went into battle against Germany in World War 1.This Film pictured Communism with force in controlling everyone and killing to keep everyone in order the also had leader of Communism. When Doctor Zhivago came home he had to share his house with 13 other different families. He also didn't have fuel his house with heat so he went out to get wood to burn. Then most people were stealing his stuff. He also got in trouble went he met his Communist brother and when he told him about poems about he feels toward Communism.

Causes of WWI

WWI strated all because of one crazy man that kill Franz Fredinad which so Austria-Hungary declared war on Sibria so Russia backed up on Siberia and then Gremany, France and England also joined in because all these countries wanted world power over weaponary, industrial power and controling other countries for the resources and land. They all did this by having miltary power. So they made a military and made waepons to fight WW1 which was really called the Great War.
